About Britton

Creating art has always been a passion for Britton, but after high school, she attended the University of Kansas to pursue a degree in Journalism. For a decade, she used her creative energy for work in Advertising and Marketing before discovering her other great passion: animal welfare.

After spending up to eight hours per day each weekend at the Kansas City, Missouri animal shelter walking dogs and training new volunteers, Britton gave up her career at a local, alternative newsweekly to volunteer full-time at the shelter.

Soon thereafter, she became the Board President of a small non-profit that helped thousands of homeless animals and struggling pet owners over the years.

After a decade of service with Friends of KC Animals, (while also raising two daughters with her husband), Britton once again turned the focus to her art. But, this time the motivation would serve a dual purpose of creating interesting and beautiful abstracts and landscapes while raising funds to help local animals in need.

With every piece sold, Britton reserves a portion of the proceeds for a fund she set up honoring her beloved, rescued American Staffordshire Terrier, Nene. At the end of each year, the money gathered in "Nene's Fund" is distributed to some of Kansas City’s shelters and rescue groups doing essential, around-the-clock work that saves and changes lives for animals who deserve so much better.

Britton creates - for herself, for others and for the animals.
